Trainee Diary: Week Nine


Shorter week this week, as I'm sure you're all aware. Again, we found ourselves in sunny Croydon. This time we were looking at some of the buildings we didn't have a chance to fully get round last time, or that we simply didn't have time to do at all. Not to much of an issue really, just a shame we couldn't get them all done the first time round last week.

There was a reason we couldn't get round them though. Recently we've had a couple of access issues. Mainly this means that we have had to ask some of the residence of the buildings to allow us access into the stairwell. Usually people are happy enough to allow us in, with our ID badges of course. However sometimes people simply do not want us there or think we want to get into their house to look at their TV in particular. This is not the case and never will be, we don't ever need to access someones home, only ever the stairwells. Annoying but like I said, it just means that we have to go back a couple of days later once we have the keys, code, card or whatever else is required to get in.


Luckily, we have the patience of saints (You have to when you work partly in the public domain) and we can keep moving on and get on with the next job. Making sure you've always got extra work and bits to be getting on with is curcial. A lot of the time you'll come up against little hurdles, mainly waiting for information, that mean you can't finish what you would like to when you would like to. Time management and organisation are skills honed to perfection in planning, whether you like it or not.

Talking of time management and organisation, I've got a couple of packs I really need to get on with right now, gotta go.
